  • Copper Northern doesn’t believe in human resources, the objective of which is to “maximize the return on investment from the organization’s human capital.” Employees are persons, and they will be treated as such. Therefore, Copper Northern has a personnel office.

    Personal Time | Sabbatical Time | Relocation Expenses | Salary Review | Paid Holidays

    Personal Time

    Personal time (“PT”) includes personal sick time, family sick time, mental health time, jury duty, bereavement, and vacation time. Employees earn personal time depending on their years of service with the company, maxing at a rate of 2 hours each week, or 13 days in a year. A person can accrue up to 26 days (two years worth), at which point the employee must use at least 5 days.

    Sabbatical Time

    Employees earn time for sabbatical, which is a long-term vacation (approved by the company), based on their length of time with the company. A person earns 1/8 of an hour per week, with the rate increasing by 1/8 an hour every thirteen weeks. (Following ten years, a person would have accrued more than 85 days.)

    Relocation Expenses
    Copper Northern will pay reasonable moving expenses for new employees moving to any of the company’s offices or for current employees who are transferred between offices. These expenses must be estimated and approved in advance.

    Salary Review
    The salary or wage rate of each employee generally will be reviewed once each fiscal year at the time of the performance evaluation. The company may increase or decrease the salary, or keep the salary at the same level, in its sole discretion. Any increase received by an individual one year should not be regarded as a guarantee that the employee will receive a salary increase the following year or any year thereafter. The Company may, in its discretion, delay any review and/or salary increase.

    Paid Holidays

    Holidays (and some surrounding days) are paid, usually between 17 and 21 days, depending on the calendar year. A list of paid holidays for the following years is available: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
