8:23 AM me: i heard edyta had a lot fun on the road with you guys
tmorly: yeah its a good time out here
im currently in huntsville, al on my laptop with 3000 screaming kids
  running around
trying to find a hotel in chattanooga, tn for the night
8:24 AM me: i thought you were going to say screaming girls, like you were with n’sync or something
do u get wireless down there, or do you need to connect
8:26 AM tmorly: i have a verizon wireless usb modem
  its $60 a month
but you can get online anywhere
me: and you get connection down in alabanma
  wifi
 tmorly: yes
8:27 AM full strength
8:28 AM me:
but on the road, would you say that you would need to be in city center
areas or relatively populated areas to get connection? can you connect
while driving?
tmorly: yes i can connect while driving
  some spots are weak
8:29 AM but on the whole, i get decent speeds
  like 300k
which is good for being mobile
me: strong enough to upload videos and photos, that’s what is most important
  and looking for hotels too
  cool
  you have your apple laptop
  ?
8:30 AM tmorly: yes
yes i can upload at about 75k a second of video, pics are faster
8:31 AM i think it really depends on where you upload
8:33 AM me: im thinking about getting a macbook
  is that what u have
 tmorly: i have a powerbook
which i love because of its size
  they dont make them anymore
you can get a cheap one refurb
8:34 AM FYI — they are releasing a “green” color of the macbook
as part of a enviro campaign
 me: i like green
tmorly: well its supposed to be out in a few months
the macbook is solid, built in camera is a great touch
8:35 AM me: yea, im still looking to see what apple comes out with;
  good luck
  save money for gas
8:39 AM tmorly: we are trying
  ill chat with u later
 me: later

May 21, 2007

4:22 PM tmorly: i just emailed your other email account because i didnt think you’d read this one
4:24 PM me: thats cool
4:25 PM im kind of getting used to this gchat stuff
4:26 PM but, i usually use meebo for IM, which allows for Gchat, so i wll hardly check this
 tmorly: i see
me: **, by the way, nice first pitch
  haha
 tmorly: dude
me: i know that was lame
 tmorly: atrocious
  it was pathetic
  i admit it
me: no, i mean, my joke
tmorly: its a lot harder than it looks
  thats for sure
me: theres a lot of pressure
tmorly: esp. in front of 40k
4:27 PM and with your face on the jumbotron
  its wierd
 me: re: 250 megs;
4:28 PM on my camera (panasonic lumix), 10 minutes = 1 GB
so, i go thru a lot of disk space
and teh quality is pretty good (640×480)
  I have a 1.5-minute video of Bongs, 213mb
 tmorly: interesting
me: can’t upload to vimeo, will put me over 25megs
tmorly: yeah edyta has a lumix
and it shoots high qual video
  huge files
4:29 PM i do remember that
me: so it is dissapointing not being able to post
i like vimeo a lot — clean, etc.
 tmorly: bigtime
 me: but 250 megs, c’mon
tmorly: i think the new version is going to be awesome
  the version you see
now was a big jump
  it used to be shit
  quicktime videos
  it was brutal
4:30 PM me: yes, jakob lodwick’s personal videos
 tmorly: exactly
how well do you know him
or, you know, read about him
me: i’m going to research the future of meebo
we’ve passed emails once or twice about web stuff
 tmorly: oh really
  interesting
id love to work for that company
 me: college humor…
4:31 PM tmorly: well, connected ventures
me: they don’t do anything but make fart jokes all day, and record them
tmorly: no dude that site is whatever
me: id like to work there too
tmorly: they do vimeo and have a few retail tshirt sites
me: i know that they do a lot of stuff
im just joking, a lot of jakob’s videos are childish, no?
4:32 PM tmorly: zachklein.com — the other brain behind vimeo
  does most of the design
yeah jakob is a bit odd
i think in person he is normal
he’s one of those odd entertainer types when the camera is on
  thats my guess at least
4:33 PM me: probably
4:34 PM i’d
rather upload high-quality videos and insist on the user downloading
them, rather than putting up half-shit you-tube style videos
 tmorly: definitely
alright dude im at my stadium
  ill check you later
 me: later
tmorly: ill actually see you in like 2 weeks
4:35 PM FYI!
 me: cool
  good luck pitching

May 30, 2007

11:18 AM me: so u have two extra tickets for the a’s game?
 tmorly: yes
i have 4 tickets for each game
11:19 AM for the As game i got two donated, and two from stubhub
me: and the giants game the following week
  awesome
tmorly: but im assuming we can all find a place to sit
for the giants i have 4 donated from the team, so same section
 me: who is oakland playing?\
 tmorly: boston red sox
me: arent they playing the bosox
tmorly: the best team in baseball
 me: yea, um’
  it should be filled
  the stadium
 tmorly: thats what they said
  we’ll see
11:20 AM me: but you have tickets nonetheless
 tmorly: yes
 me: awesome

June 27, 2007

9:13 AM tmorly: new vimeo
it is a lot to take in
the old version was more simple
but i think i will like this once i get used to it
  no bump from 250mbs
  megs, i mean
  im sure you’re thrilled
9:15 AM me: i like the old vimeo
  i liked the simplicity
  this is much more social-oriented
9:16 AM tmorly: yeah i think that was always the goal
there are some features i like
  the videos are bigger
and you can do full screen
9:17 AM me: yes, but both of those could have been added to the previous framework
9:20 AM tmorly: it needed an upgrade
the old one was web2.0ish enough
9:21 AM me: it has the feeling of children’s website, disney-ish, nickelodian-style
9:22 AM tmorly: yes, a little bit
  you are right
i think it will take some getting used to
9:23 AM i also think they will revise a bunch of stuff based on complaints/suggestions
 me: yes, most likely
9:26 AM tmorly: i thought the same thing when they released the last version
  (the disney feel)
but compared to the other garbage design out there, it just seemed way different
9:30 AM me: garage update…
9:32 AM tmorly: what video player is this

5 minutes
9:37 AM me: its opensource
9:38 AM tmorly: i see

35 minutes

he hasnt gotten back to me
i have no idea what happened
9:02 AM me: send me the php file
9:03 AM if u want, reycorp@gmail.com
9:04 AM tmorly: i can give you access to my ftp
i have never even screwed with it
9:05 AM me: okay, i wont mess around
there is nothing worse than a website that is”down”
 tmorly: Username: tfc
Password: fHqON$y8
  thats for the ftp
 me: what is the site
9:08 AM its tourforthecure.org
  thats the domain
and then just login with user/pass

6 minutes
9:15 AM tmorly: did u try it
9:17 AM me: yes
  im in
9:19 AM tmorly: ok
9:20 AM me: i renamed the orignial header.php file header0.php
and uploaded a new header.php file
  i don’t know if it is a short-term fix
9:23 AM tmorly: dude it works
  that is rad
