2007 Summer: Eric Grace Speaks Out (1/19)
Centerfielder Eric Grace has made his intentions known that he will return for the Superbas’ second season. In a brief statement, Grace mentioned his goals and how he plans to prepare for the upcoming season…
I’m going to shoot for two in the park HR this year. I’m about to fast, rid my system of toxins, then start to hit the weights. I quit smoking a week and a half ago also. I’m gonna be a monster out there!!
2007 Summer: Jesus Is Back (1/22)
Outfielder Jesus Espinoza, in an email statement to the team’s General Manager, has made his intentions known that he will return for the team’s second season…
Dear GM,
This message is to express my interest in playing for the Superbas for the 2007 season. I feel that I have a few more years left in me – I can still contribute to the team. Plus, I owe it the fans and more importantly, the cougars of Concord. I look forward to playing with the Superbas this upcoming season, and hopefully we can continue the legacy of excellence of this fine organization.
Regards,
Jesús Espinoza

Quotable Superbas (1/26/07)
Ten players have decided to return for the Superbas’ second season. Here is how the team let the coach know their decision (in order received)…
Humm…. Put me down as tentative. I have a baby on the way and I don’t know what that means to my available time??? Don’t get me wrong, I want to play some ball. It’s just that I handed my testicals over to my wife. It’s what we do when we get married. I will see if I can barrow them back for the season. — Craig Wright
Count me in! Last year was fun. — Andy Orr
Definitely interested. — Brooks Ramsdell
Im in — Kevin Ghalambor
Count me in…when does off-season conditioning and spring training begin??? — Jeff Adams
I would like to play with the team we had last year. If your roster has more than a couple of returning Superbas, count me in too. — Joe Gray
Sounds like the Superbas will have a good returning core. — Joe Gray
Sup coach, Put me on the roster — Joe Gray
Count me in. — Carlo Quinonez
Count me in, too. I am looking to return to early season form at the plate… — Jeff Adams
Yeah, I believe so — Eric Grace
For classic Grace, see his delayed response. And classic Jesus, too.
2007 Summer: Craig Wright Retires (1/30)
Craig Wright has retired from the Red-Legged Superbas. The first-baseman/outfielder earned a Copper Glove while batting .333 last season. In an email addressed to the team (and partially written in third-person), Craig let the team know of his decision…
Craig Wright will retire number 34 this year. Family has called me away from softball, but my passion for the game will never end. Perhaps you will see me in the bleachers with a beer in one hand and a kid in the other, yelling insults to the apposing team. Good luck this year.
Regards,
Craig S. Wright

Wright Cole has decided to return for the Superbas’ second season, abruptly ending his brief retirement. In a short email, Cole expressed some concerns regarding his health…
I don’t know how fast I will be able to run because of my leg but I will do my best for the team, if nobody minds me running even slower than I did last year.
2007 Summer: B.H. Bronson Johnson Joins Superbas (2/23)
A late addition to the 2007 summer roster has been made as B.H. Bronson Johnson joins the team. This is how B.H. declared his interest…
SWM looking for MWF for extracurricular fun. I enjoy long walks on the beach, watching the sunset from a bathtub, and the smell of fresh leather. My hobbies include doing wheelies, math, and grooming wild ponies. If you want action, then I’m your man. Call me and we can meet on the softball field. Bring your glove because there will be balls to catch.
Superba Fighting In Iraq (4/5/07)
One of our new players completely vanished, and now we know why…
I would like to apologize, my reserve military unit was deployed to the Middle East. I only get to check my email once a month or so and I just got your emails. Unfortunately I will not be able to play this year. I should be home some time around August. Once again I apologize, I was looking forward to playing.
Bill
I think I spoke for the whole team when I replied, “Be safe over there. Godspeed.”

2007 Fall: Eric Grace Retires (8/3)
Eric Grace has decided to not return for the upcoming fall season. In an email exchange, he mentioned why…
Eric: Negative, I’ve had enough ass-pounding for one year.
Coach: Are you serious? What about your woman? Have you thought about her? Haven’t you given thought that she liked watching you play softball?
Eric: Actually, when I told her she got angry.
Coach: For what reason? That we suck?
We can only hope Eric is up for an ass-pounding next spring.
2007 Fall: Chris Leo Retires (8/3)
Chris Leo has retired from the Superbas, for now at least. He let the coach know by email…
No, I’m gonna pass on the fall league this time around. I’m gonna be giving softball a rest for a while… Going 5 – 21 this past season with both my teams kinda took all the fun out of playing. Plus my softball bag just got stolen from my roommates car on saturday, so I don’t have any equipment to play with!!! Friggin crack heads in the city!!!!
Good Luck
