Game Summary
The Superbas’ struggles continue as they were dealt their fifth consecutive loss at the hands of the pitiful Los Diablos, 15-10, in the early game on the main field on Wednesday, May 14. A weak defensive second inning by the Superbas, where Los Diablos scored 10 of their runs, was all that was needed to secure victory.
Highlights were made in the field by outfielders Andrew Orr and Jesus Espinoza. Brooks Ramsdell played solid in the outfield and at second base.
The Superbas scored three runs in each of the first three innings but failed to rally late in a time-shortened game. Orr reached base three times and scored 2 runs, shortstop Jeff Wisniewski had two doubles and scored three runs, and first baseman Wright Cole knocked in 4 runs on two singles. Pitcher Kevin Ghalambor and catcher Joe Gray each drew 2 walks.
Following the game Coach Wisniewski announced two team captains: Ramsdell will head the west side and Orr will head the east side. The captains have suggested changes to the lineup and batting order, and the coach confirmed that those changes will be reflected in the coming weeks.
Ramsdell failed to get out of his slump and his batting average fell to .143 on the season. Cole struck out swinging in his first at-bat.
The next game will be a rematch against the only team the Superbas have beat, the Beer Nutz, in the late game on Wednesday, June 21.
